This textured style has a very unique and modern look but still brings calmness and elegance to the design. The lighter design was somewhat less successful than Times New Roman, however, perhaps because it was not available on Linotype machines, and is rarely seen today.

After the success of Times New Roman in 1932, Monotype used their experience with Linotype to produce a thinner typeface, which became known as Monotype Corsiva.
